Rainbow Cottage Early Childhood Centre

Welcome

The Rainbow Cottage Philosophy

Rainbow Cottage supports its member families and the wider Canberra community. It provides high quality child care in a safe, loving and caring environment. The Centre aims to promote the unique physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual growth and development of each child attending the centre.

Our First Priority Is You And Your Child

Rainbow Cottage is a community based child care centre. We value parents' input and suggestions and strive to ensure parents and children are happy and secure. The centre is managed by a Committee with input from the Belconnen community, parents, staff and our director.

Our centre is licensed for 42 places allowing individual attention and personal involvement with parents and children. At Rainbow Cottage, we insist on small groups with more than the minimum staff to children ratio requirements specified by the licensing authority. A low staff turnover ensures a stable, caring environment for your child.

Quality Care

Rainbow Cottage is a high quality centre and is committed to providing the best care possible. The centre offers a secure environment where children are warmly responded to and feel a sense of trust.

The relationships between staff, children and parents are welcoming, responsive and genuine. The program effectively provides for children of different ages in all areas of their development. Relevant and interesting experiences are offered daily, which foster and enhance children's intellectual development, creativity, language, social and motor skills.

The centre is licensed by the Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services, Office for Children Youth and Family Support, Children's Policy and Regulation Unit.

How Are Our Children Grouped?

Rainbow Cottage is divided into three separate areas:

  1. Nursery

Our Team Leader has a Diploma in Children's Services. There are eight babies in this room aged from birth to two years.

  2. Toddlers

The Team Leader in our Toddler Room holds a Diploma in Children's Services. There are 10 children in this room aged from two to three years.

  3. Preschool

Our preschool teacher holds a degree in Early Childhood Education. The preschool room caters for 22 children from three years of age until school entry. We aim to provide opportunities for children to develop all of the necessary school readiness skills within the nurturing, homelike environment in the preschool room.

Our parents consider Rainbow Cottage as part of their extended family - a caring, loving, happy place. At the same time our qualified and experienced staff provide weekly programs focusing on all areas of child development. These programs are based on observations as well as the individual interests of the children.
